Twizi.com has a map of where all the hostels are in Paris, really worth a look so you have some idea where your hostel will be. Paris is huge. I stay at Montmartre mostly when I go (if you have seen "Amelie" it is where that was filmed and the white chiurch in a park. In Montmartre, a good deal is the Merryl hotel (link below) The good news is that there is no way you will have to spend 50 euros a night (in the middle of summer maybe, but now much cheaper!)
