  • Answer:

Barn Owls are not very large and are faily light birds. They are more likely to go after smaller prey than a cat. A small kitten might be more likely to be attacked by an owl. Great Horned Owls however, are larger and tend to go after larger prey but would still probably not take on a full grown cat, but could possibly harm a cat. Your cats are also a threat to these birds, especially if the owls have babies. Cats can easily attack and eat baby owls, and owls can easily attack cats going after their babies. Best to keep you cats inside at night, or completely if possible. http://www.owlstuff.com/Cats,%20Dogs%20&%20Owls.htm

barn owls tend to go after smaller prey but have been known to go after bigger things if they have not been able to eat in a few days. Best to keep kitty in at night.

They will hunt cats if they bug them, owls are nocturnal and if your cats are out at night when you arent there then you will habe troubles, my answer is yes

If the owls feel threatened or are protecting their babies they will indeed take on a cat or even kill it. They do eat mice but I don't know if they would eat a cat. Owls have amazing eyesight, so I would agree with ur neighbor- ur black & white cat isn't able to camouflage itself so easy at night. Good luck and best wishes!
