Where to buy Paris souvenirs?

What are the most popular souvenirs to buy from France (paris,nice) and Italy(rome,venice, florence)?

    I like to bring home miniature Eiffel Towers, bags, scarves, prints and posters. I've started collecting rosaries from Notre Dame (though I'm not Catholic). Rue de Rivoli is a treasure trove for souvenirs (across from the Louvre; metro: Tuileries). You can find mini Eiffel Towers for as low as 1 Euro. This is also a good place to find postcards: 15 postcards for 1 Euro. The bouquinistes along the Seine also have some nice deals. There is also a nice street near Notre Dame (facing the cathedral, turn left down the street of souvenir stands). I've noticed the further you are away from a main attraction, the less expensive the souvenirs. But it's also a good idea to do some comparison shopping.

Chocolate is nice. I've had good response to the small posters of Lautrec, Steinlen, et al. You can get them at the stands next to the Seine for about 5-10 bucks. I always bring back a few pairs of Achille socks and some jelly, mustards, etc. I like to have local foods from trips and friends also appreciate them.

When I was in Paris I brought home a metal Eiffel Tower statue as well as an Eiffel Tower snow globe :) In Nice they have a lot of lavender, so sachets are popular, as well as olive oil and olive oil serving dishes. Champagne is also nice to bring home from France, if you're able to. In Venice you would most likely want to bring back some Venetian lace or some Murano glass.
