There's a very nice hostel in Copacabana, in a very safe and tree lined are of Copacabana - in fact in the same street I used to live before I relocated back to the USA. It is used to be called King George Hostel, I think it is called now Cabana Copa. Check their website http://www.cabanacopa.com.br/
