When did blu ray become available?

Do you think Blu Ray players will become so popular that they will stop selling DVD players? If so how so soon?

  • Now when you look in Best Buy magazines you only see advertisements for Blu Ray Disc players. Blu Ray is also HD and now everyone wants HD.

    Yes they will....the time frame that is hard to say. Is technology progresses, we push for better picture, better sound, cooler toys. They will not phase out DVDs inutil the price of blue ray movies become more cost effective. look at how much the cost of blue ray players have dropped. from $900.00 to 150 and up.

eventually but since they play old dvds it is not a problem.your current library of dvd's will still be usble.

I would think in another 3-5 years years, they will stop making regular dvd's because the costs of come way down. In Walmart they have a Magnavox blu-ray player for around $99. Now, obviously, it will not be as good as a samsung blu-ray player, but, they now of entry level players at rock bottom prices.

until low end bluray players gets down to $50. I don't see it happening any time soon. I give it another 5-10 years.

They will eventually stop selling DVDs but not any time soon. Remember how long VHS was available after DVDs became popular. Besides manufacturers are still making and selling DVD players

Maybe. It is a contest between downloads and blue ray. Eventually, there is an excellent chance that downloads will win the day.
