Is hd better than blue ray?

WHAT is THE DIFFERENCE WITH A BLUE RAY AND A HD DVD PLAYER? WHICH ONE IS BETTER? WHAT DO THEY DO? THANKS?

    These are two competing formats for High-Definition DVDs. They are both technically fine. Because they are competing formats there is a possibility that one or the other will soon be obsolete. The players are expensive for now. If you don't have an HDTV, you don't need either, just buy a regular DVD. If you do have an HDTV, you don't need either, either*. For now you want an "upconverting DVD player". This will take your standard DVDs and provide an HD-compatible signal that will look great on your TV. *It is true that either of these player formats would look somewhat more detailed on an HDTV, but if you were the type of person that it would make a difference to, you probably wouldn't be asking this question. . . Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are more similar than they are different. Each one offers great visuals and sound, so I don't think it matter a whole lot what you get. The thing about choosing is that many major movie producing companies back only format for all the new movies that are coming out. There are 2 studios that make movies for both. It really depends on the movies you want. The best choice for choosing one is to buy one that will play regular DVDs, HD-DVDs, and Blu-Ray. Eventually HD-DVD or Blu-Ray will lose ground and be phased out, so for right now it's best to have a player that will play both. Those can get quite expensive, however.
