Connect the freeview to the telly with a scart cable, now assuming you have two sockets on the back of your freeview you need to connect the Dvd to this using another scartsocket. This should then enable you to watch freeview as per norm and if you wish to watch a dvd just switch the freeview onto standby. It definetely will work assuming you do have the two sockets on the freevie.
