What file extension for movies might work on my Truman receiver ?

So my new satellite channel receiver has a USB port, but when I connect a flash with .avi movie, the movie plays without audio and it says that the codec is not supported or something ...show more

Read the manual. It is not so much the extension (AVI can have nearly any combination of video and audio codec), but the codec used.
