Are these people search engines legitimate?

How do I make a web site that people can find with common search engines.?

    make certain you have done these things to your site before you submit it to search engines. 1) make certain all images load 2) make certain all urls work 3) put meta tags in each page. one for description and one for keywords. each page should have a diferent description and different keywords taken from that page. 4) make certain every page has it's own title in the title tags. 5) don't put lots of stuff on one page. spread it out to several pages. 6) not all web surfers have broadband. most styill use a dialup connection. a page with large photois and lots of small photos might take 30 minutes or more to load. if you did that to me i would be very angry and leave your site and never come back. after you get these things done submit your site's main page to these three places. dmoz.org is used by most of the other search engines to supplement their own directories http://dmoz.org/add.html http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl even if your site is accepted you have to check your listing occasionally to make certain it stays listed. if your site gets little traffic or you don't update it occasionally your search engine listing is removed. it can take 2 weeks to 6 months before you get accepted if they accept you. if your site is about you don't bother submitting it. you will have a much better chance if you make it about a certain subject. search yahoo for ideas.

To make your website "searchable" by any search engine you have to register a domain name, such as www.yourdomain.com. if you get a domain under -per instance- geocities, then it'll only be "searchable" under the geocities search engine. You can even pay to have it on the top of the search results if you want to. Places like yahoo offer that.

HTML is the basic coding of a website. To get your website on search engines you have to use META tags. To do this, between the <head> and </head> lines (they'll be at the top of the coding) put this: <meta name="description" content="ADD A DESCRIPTION HERE"> <meta name="keywords" content="ADD KEYWORDS HERE< SEPARATED BY COMMAS"> You won't get on the top of the list, you'll have to pay for that, but this'll get you somewhere ;) Hope that helps! You just need to register with any search engine that you want people to find you. There is some company that can submit your web address to different search engine. Yahoo or Microsoft has such service. But of course whether your web address will be found on top of search result is another story. You may need to pay a substantial amount to put yours on top.
