How to recycle a laptop?

How do I recycle my old laptop with important information on my hard drive?

• I would like to find a cheap or free way to delete all important information on my hard drive before I recycle it.

  Try swiping a magnet over it a few times. That will destroy it for good. You could also break it open and damage the platforms (disks) inside of it, rendering it USELESS. Just cause as much damage as possible. I cracked my last one open, scratched all the disks, put lighter fluid in it, and then lit it. Then i recycled it.
