It is the speed of your Internet Connection. For chatting purpose, I don't think you need 2.5 GB. GB means GigaByte and that is really big.

GB is gigabyte, or 1024x1024x1024 byte for the speed, the same for bits. 1 GB per second means that a computer can make more than a million operations in a second, or transfer a file of 128 megabytes to your computer (1 byte is 8 bits, you know). I hope, everything is clear now.

GB is a gigabyte, or approx. 1 billion bytes, if your only using it for chatting purposes you may as well get the cheapest you can find as chatting is easily capable with a 20yr old dialup connection
