Laptop...I'm not sure. I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed on my desktop since Monday. It works fine. Your laptop will need at least 256meg ram. 512 is better. Sound and video work fine on mine. However my son did have to something to do with the video. I don't know what. You can download the iso image from the ubuntu website. http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ There are a couple versions/releases available. Or you can order a free cd from them. I did, and it took about 5 days.
