Why does my monitor say "Out of Range".?

    Have you tried plugging that monitor into any other machine to 'reset' it of sorts? Usually when this happens, a signal is sent from the video card that it is currently hooked to that is out of the range of the monitors performance. It gets 'stuck' in those settings until it is reset somehow. Usually plugging it into a machine with lower settings once will reset them.

Change the resolution on the display settings, the monitor cant handle the resolution Right click anywhere on the desktop and left click display settings or personlize if you have vista, then click display settings again and change the resolution all the way to the left, plug in the old monitor and it should work, then fine tune it till it reaches its capacity
