    server is basically a computer with high configuration, In my office one server has 800gb of memory and 10 gb of ram, while a personal computer will be having say 80gb of hard disk and 1gb of ram. Server can do lots of things, it depends how you configure it, a webserver will accept users from the website user and do the required task, as its configuration is high it can handle lot many requests, you can make your own pc as a server, but then it wont perform much because PC's have less ram and all, you can buy a server from HP, Compaq, dell or even your next door computerwalla
