How exactly do you study abroad in Australia if you are from the USA?

How can i study college/university in USA or Australia?

  • im graduating highschool in philippines this march im planning to study in USA or australia, is it possible to study in their university? even im from philippines?

  • Answer:

You're too late to apply for the Fall (2009) semester now. You haven't taken TOEFL, SAT exams, etc. Do you have the money to pay for college abroad? You need to prove that you have sufficient funds to pay for all of your educational expenses, plus all of your living expenses, plus your return to the Philippines upon completion or termination of your studies. Just to do your testing, application fees, and odds & ends to get into a university are going to cost you a couple of grand. Plan to have at least $250,000 to cover school & living; more if you go to a more expensive private school or would be living in a higher-cost area. If you and your parents do not have the money, don't waste time and money on application fees. You can get a decent education in many fields right at home in the Philippines for a fraction of the US or Australia costs.

Every US college and university has its own procedure, but here's basically what you need to do: 1) Complete an application (you can often find this at the colleges' website). More information: http://www.universitylanguage.com/guides/how-to-fill-out-a-college-or-us-universit-application/ 2) Take standardized tests, such as the ACT or SAT. These are offered around the world. Both of the above answers are completely wrong. Yes it is possible for you to study in either the United States or Australia, however the cost of doing so is very expensive. Ibu Guru is wrong when it states that you need to show all of your living expenses and all of your tuition costs; one is only required to show a *reasonable* figure and $250K is not a reasonable figure for anyone to show, but you will however need to show funds that state you can afford the tuition costs and living expenses for at least the first year; this figure varies from university to university and of course state to state. Rough figures are as follows: tuition in the U.S is around $25,000 per year and living costs will be around $10K-$12K per year, even more in areas like NYC and L.A. As for admission requirements you will need to take the SAT I or ACT (not the GRE since that is for post-graduate studies). You may also be required to take the SAT II: Subject Test along with the TOEFL. For Australia, you will need to do your own research on the costs and admission requirements but the IELTS will be required.
