You're starting with the wrong engineering discipline. Biomed today is heavily instrument oriented, and that stuff is all software-driven electronics. Not that your ME will hurt (love you guys, we need you, and engineers rule), but you need to start pouring on all the electronics and EE and Computer Engineering courses you can squeeze in before graduation.
