How can people stand to slaughter helpless animals to eat when there are alternatives?

I completely agree. I recently went vegan. My meat eating family seem ignorant to the suffering that occurred just so they could eat chicken on their plate. But I guess some eat meat because of wealth issues. Or where they live. Not everybody is well suited to a vegetarian diet.

I agree. Especially the baby animals part. For instance who would eat veal if they really knew that what veal really is is tortured baby cows. They take the baby cow and put him in a tight stall so he can't exercise, keep him in the dark and restrict his diet. He has a very short miserable life.

I can't agree with you anymore! It's a real quagmire that meat eaters do.. they brainwashed twits of animal raisers that advertise meat.. the meat advertisers advertise meat as health protein when it is the least health protein cause it's used protein and loaded with cholesterol! Meat is dead so therefore if you eat meat you're eating death! God said: As ye treat even the lowliest soul so I shalt treat thee! Meat eaters have no compassion towards animals obviously. Poverty is no excuse either. One can live off wild foods in the woods.. I did for nearly 6 months just watching what rabbits ate and I ate the same type foods as the rabbits did!

I agree, I saw a video of a slaughterhouse and I have vowed not to eat meat again (although it's hard). I agree w/another poster who said that most meat eaters are simply desensitized (I was!) and if people were forced to kill their own food, there would be a lot more vegetarians. We live in a country where we will not Starve! So there is no excuse to eat slaughtered animals. I have a muslim friend who celebrates the birth of every child by slaughtering goats in her native country, and cooked me a meal with the tiniest baby chicken I've ever seen. I refused to eat it (Even though I wasn't a vegetarian at the time). She thought I was so foolish and couldn't stop laughing. All I know is I have a conscious, and my conscious tells me this is WRONG.

It was for this reason that animals were put on the Earth, to give us food. However, we are still responsible for taking care of our natural resources.

They taste really good. Especially when they are grilled. And since I buy my meat at the grocery store, I never see the slaughter process. As far as I know, chickens come in featherless, bonless, breast only varieties. If I had kill my own chicken, I'm sure I would eat more veggies.
