    You can do this with StashSpace.Com They digitize your tapes and will put the files on a hard drive for you. It's usually $7 per hour tape for the transfer but they are running a holiday promo where the encoding it is FREE with a premium account. when you move them from your tapes to your computer they already go to your hard drive... that's where data is stored, unless you have an external. Anyways, there are devices out there that you can connect a camera to. It's a slow process, but you can back it up. Some are as simple as a video card, some are external devices that plug into your PC. Go to any computer store, you should be able to find them
