How to resize swf image?

How can I resize an image on GIMP without the image going blurry?

  • I want to make my picture bigger but when I resize it it goes quite blurry. :/ Is there away I can resize the image and still keep the quality?

  • Answer:

All that GIMP has to work with are the limited number of pixels in your small picture. You really can't make it too big without it going fuzzy. You can sometimes make a big picture small, and then make it big again, but that's just because it holds the original big picture in memory. You can use Filters> Enhance> Sharpen or Filters> Enhance> Unsharp Mask, but those will only get you so far. Also, just in case.. Make sure you are resizing with the correct aspect ratio... Right click on your image, then select Layer> Scale layer You will see the width and the height, and to the right of them is a little link pic that will be either broken or connected. If it's broken, then click it to make it unbroken. Then just change one of the numbers (width or height) to your desired size and the other one will automatically adjust to the right aspect ratio when you re-size.

This is not a problem with the GIMP but with _any_ image processing software. When making an image larger, the program has to create new pixels to fill the gaps. The only way to do this is to use the surrounding pixels and somehow 'guess' how the new pixels would most probably look like.
