Can I watch TV through my laptop with an HDMI Cable?

I sometime link my laptop to my TV using my HDMI cable to watch movies on the TV screen However the sounds...?

ONly play on the laptop speakers. Is there a way to get the sounds to play through the TV speakers.

Click Start, control panel, Hardware and Sound and click on "Hardware and Sound", then the third option down is "Sound". Then, Manage Audio Devices, then where it says "Digital Output Device (HDMI)" highlight it. Click "Set Default" then click "OK" If not... I have a Samsung TV at the moment and sometimes if I leave my Compaq laptop silent for a period of time, it will switch back to audio coming from the speakers of the laptop. This is because the TV ceases to recieve the audio to save power. Sometimes this can be tripped by the HDMI plug not being jammed in all the way, or the contacts being dirty. If you have a faulty pin on your cable it could have the same effect.
