  • Answer:

Sounds like you've hooked up the antenna correctly. I also subscribe to Dish, and hooked my OTA HD antenna to the VIP 211 receiver. After doing so, I configured the receiver to search for the local HD channels. The process took a few minutes to complete, but after it was done, voila, FREE HD channels.

Hook up the output of the satellite receiver to video input #1. Hook up the OTA antenna to the RF coaxial input. Switch from Video 1 and RF with the TV/Video button to either watch the satellite or the OTA channels. You can also usually clear the other video inputs out of the TV/Video select mode, so that you just toggle between Video 1 and RF. Check your manual that came with your TV remote on how to do that.
