Hitachi TV. No sound or picture.

55" Hitachi Plasma TV gets a green light that it is on but there is no picture or sound. ?

  I had the same problem with my TV, it turns out it was a defect capacitor for the 5V Standby (i did a lot of research), this is a VERY common problem with many LCD/Plasma TV's, after changing it your TV should hopefully run fine again, I would suggest having a TV Repair Specialist take a look at it for you but if you would rather save some money then take a look yourself, the 5V Stanby is located on the power board (at the risk of sounding patronising you will find this at the end of the powercable inside, no offence). Use a Current Loop Checker (a device that shows if theres a crrent passin through whatever it is held against) and by order of elimination you can find the offending item, replace this part (very cheep) and hopefully you should be up and running again, hope i have been some help, Craig P.S I would recommend having an expert to do this though as it can be dangerous to start playing around inside your T.V on the power board!
