How do you feel about those police officers being acquitted for killing a unarmed man on his wedding day?

I think it's wrong and unfair. They should have went to jail for MURDER because you can't accidentally kill someone by shooting 50 times. Nobody can live through 50 gunshots. And like you said he was unarmed so how much of a threat could he have been. They deserved jail time it makes me mad they got off for murdering this guy.

hi, well i guess he tried to run the 3 cops over with his vehicle so they shot him because he was trying to kill them with the car. i don't agree with shooting someone 50 times but if someone tried to run me over & i had a gun i would shoot that person also because it's survival. this is a terrible time for all included in this sad event. i feel bad for the cop that spoke to the press & said he felt bad for this man's family & that he was grateful to GOD for not being punished for murder & u know that this isn't overwith. i feel bad for the people who's lives have been ruined on all sides of this terrible crime. why couldn't those officers wound him instead of killing him & why did he try to run them over with his car? alot of questions here to be answered & no one has the right answer! it's a shame for all parties! bb

well this is what a retired NYPD cop said in another blog about this yesterday. EDIT:: This is what a nypd cop said on another group:: Hold on - has anyone looked into our training, as well as the specific incident other than the amount of shots fired? We are trained to stop the target - to continue shooting until all is FINISHED. If I am doing an investigation on someone KNOWN to have a firearm - and I intend to stop him, and he continues - while in a van, and tried to run me over - or run YOU over - will I shoot knowing the culpability factor - YES! Since the N. Hollywood shootout that happened in CA. - we were trained in the NYPD in the months following the shootout the exact procedures that these brave detectives followed. Ask yourself this - did you get so irate when OJ was acquitted? In this case we understand that the officers killed Bell - they stood up and took their trial without denying what they did - OJ didn't and we know, and it was proven in Civil Court that he did it. Take a good look in the mirror if those officers were protecting you - or you were related to those officers. Take a good look at the "poor" innocent "victim" in this case - his record leads to a culpable factor that he indeed tried to run the detective over, and used the van as a weapon in order to do so. The good old quote from "A Few Good Men" by Jack Nicholson applies well (with paraphrases) - "You weep for "Bell", and you curse the "NYPD". You have that luxury." But are any of you going to do the job? I don't think so! I dont think it was right but if he was coming at the cops in a car trying to hit him then yes they had every right to protect themself but again i wasnt there and dont really know what happen. I look at it as now it is in Gods hand they will have to pay if they did it just to be shoting at someone.

Racism? I thought at least one of the police officer was black also. I think it is disgusting that they got off. A definite abuse of their police power especially knowing they fired 50 shots.Justice was not served in this case.

The problem is that we don't know all the facts of the case. If the officers were acquitted, then based on face value, the judge felt that the shootings were justified. HOWEVER, without knowing all the facts it is difficult to see what actually happened.
