  • Answer:

Bicycles are made in a variety of frame sizes, and can be custom made in extreme cases (you are not extreme!). Virtually all manufacturers make multiple sizes. Any reputable bike shop will measure you and put you on a bike that fits. If they don't happen to have it in stock, they'll order what you need. Walmart bikes are typically one size fits all junk. If you happen to be average size, you'll find something that fits (it'll still be junk, but it will fit!) Last word: Serious cyclists always test ride before they buy to make sure everything feels right. Its as important with bikes as it is with shoes.

Visit the local bike shops for a fitting most of them will have a frame for your size. Never buy a bike from Walmart or any department store. http://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit/ The above link will give you an idea of the size you need. Go look at Trek, Specialized, Giant, Fuji, Cannondale, Raleigh, and a few others. They will start you out with the correct size frame.

I got a few of them, you can't have them though.

Stay away from the so called department store bikes. Most are junk. I once spent 6 hours fixing and adjusting EVERYTHING on a brand new Roadmaster bike. This included adjusting the frame and greasing and adjusting the pedals. Pay a visit to your local bicycle shops. They will have more knowledge on fitting you to a bicycle. I am 6'1" and I ride either 25" or 62 cm frames. You will need around a 27" or 64 cm frame. I would budget around $400 to $500 for a quality bicycle. If you are looking for a mountain bike, you will be out of luck. They are simply too small for your height. While you can get the seat height correct, the handlebars will be way too low. Most likely this will still be the problem with an extra tall road frame. To fit you correct you may need a custom frame with an extra long steerer tube. The steerer on my custom tandem is 9-1/2 inches long. You may need one up to 12" long. Just will not be available on a stock frame. Good Luck

You're lucky none of them fit otherwise you would have wasted however much money you would have spent on a piece of Chinese sweatshop garbage. Wallyworld bikes are just junk and whoever may have been working in that department didn't have the foggiest clue about how a bike should fit you. You need to go to a real bicycle shop where they sell bikes made to last, know how to service them and know how to fit you to a bike. Your size is no big deal to a professional bike shop.

You can also include large retail sports stores such as Sports Authority, Sport Chalet, etc. They are ust as bad as Walmart, Target, Costco, etc. Local Bike Shops or LBS for short are your best bet. Depending on where you live, you can also try Performance Bikes. Go to http://www.performancebike.com/inform/store_locations.cfm to search for the nearest store in your location.
