the ones above me are good, but you should raise your eyebrows simultaneously and jokingly....so it makes their statment that you are gay a joke (since you are joking ). So nothing is taken seriously, and now everybody thinks youre straight.

I don't consider being gay insulting. If someone is using it as an insult, they are in the wrong. Politely tell them you are from from gay (if that is the case), or just ignore them. You could also inform them that "gay" is not an insult and shouldn't be used as such, and that others may find it offensive. Gays are people, too.
