What is the name of the flying insect that looks like a big mosquito?

Left a window open last night and one was in my house this morning. I have seen them before but never knew what they were.

It is a crane fly. They don't bite humans but they do kill mosquitoes. Usually one will find them is shaded areas by doors or windows.

It could be a male mosquito, they're alot bigger than the females. But don't worry they don't bite, females only suck blood (for their eggs), males drink nectar and what not.
