How can I get a visa from the US to travel to Kenya?

Do I have to get my H1B visa stamped again if I change my job, travel out of the US and return back?

  • I was on L1B visa with my ex-employer "ABC" from 2010 to Oct 2012. I got my H1B visa applied by my ex-employer "ABC"  in 2012 and it became valid since October 1st 2012. After that I traveled out of US and got my H1B visa stamped before I returned back to US, all while staying employed with my ex-employer "ABC". I have H1B visa, with name of my ex-employer, on my passport, valid up until 2015. I have now switched jobs in the US and now work for new employer "XYZ". Before switching the job, I got my H1B visa transferred from ABC to XYZ and the petition was approved. After I joined XYZ, my ex-employer might have requested cancellation on my old H1B petition filed by my ex-employer "ABC". I got a notificaiton from USCIS that the decision on my old petition was reverted. However, the new petition is still valid. Now my concern is, if I travel outside of US; Do I have to get the H1B visa stamped again?

  • Answer:

No. The h1b stamping is good till 2015 as long as you maintain valid h1b status with any employer

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyerMost probably, you don't need to; you would want to travel with all documentation together: your passport, stamped H1B visa, and new valid H1B approval documentation. But if you travel outside for enough time, you will find more efficient for future entries to just get the new one stamped. Particularly as the first visa period has elapsed.
