ITT Technical Institute?

Is Itt technical institute a good school or is it better to continue to go to community college?

  • I want to get my asscociates degree in communications at chaffey community college but im considering itt tech. I dont know if that would be a good decision? need advice!

  • Answer:

I went to a technical school, and I don't recommend it. They're overpriced, poorly taught, bad reputation, and you get less out of it than you pay. Go to a CC because it's simply cheaper. You'll learn that school in general won't help you out because what u do on the job is what matters. Try to get your foot in the door while you're at CC or after CC. That's when you will start to really learn.

ITT is good only for very short vocational courses, and even then such courses are going to be much more expensive than community college. ITT's major failing is that it over-promises for programs longer than one year. The courses are poorly taught, and the credits don't transfer. For a 2yr degree in Electronics Technology, DeVry is much better. CalPoly-Pomona and DeVry both have good 4yr BSCET programs.

If you can do the same program at community college, do so - it's state funded so it's cheaper and your classes will transfer. That's not always the case with ITT.
