Do you have to change the whole system to put new speakers in a car?

Door speaker baffels suck, they make the speaker sound like a dying cow in mud. It depends on if you have the bose audio system in your car. If you do then you need to look for 2 OHM speakers, bose thinks like a crack addict. If you do not have the bose system then you will be fine by just replacing the speakers. You just will not have the full potential of the speakers since the stereo is tuned down to preserve the life span of speakers. Also you have 6 3/4" speakers in your doors and the rear shelf. 6 1/2" speakers will fit with adaptors.

you can purchase any after market speaker of the size you need and they will wire into the existing speaker wires when you take the old ones out. you dont have to buy a new head unit or anything. the size speaker for that car depends on where you are putting them. you can go to crutchfield.com and go to the 'shop' tab and then to outfit my car and it will tell you what size speakers you need for where you are replacing them.
