  • Answer:

Get a job as a pizza delivery driver for a week or two. Millions of people have had this job. You trying to fake the experience will just mean millions of potential readers will dismiss you as a hack. I suggest you go read George Orwell's Down & Out in Paris, which is the greatest book ever written about dishwashing so far. Why? Because he actually washed dishes in Paris. Every guy I've ever met who has had a dishwashing job and who has read it admits it is a masterpiece about dishwashing. John Sheppard wrote a book called Small Town Punk, in it he describes working at a Pizza Hut. His book is good, because he gets the details of such a job. Why? Because he worked at just such a place once. A good writer takes details of real life and uses them in his fiction. These details are what makes his fiction great, rather than hack work. You want to really get the feel of delivering pizza? Go deliver pizza or at least spend some time around pizza deliverers. Stop taking short cuts. Here is a factoid. Every pizza driver keeps two lists either written down or in his head of every single house that has ever stiffed him and houses that consistently tip a lot. Oh and some of them are serious sociopaths. So next time your pizza takes hours to get there, it might very well have to do with the tip last time.

They make minimum wage or worse, they take the pizza to the house and collect the money. Often they help in the restaurant if they are not delivering.

Were you ever in the boy scouts? If so follow the Scout Law: Trustworthy Loyal Helpful Friendly Courteous Kind Obedient Cheerful Thrifty Brave Clean And Reverent Really that is all you have to follow with any job and you will be find :) Consurning the money, it depends on where you live. Most of them just make minimum wage, but then you have to add in the tips they make on average. I would suggest you look at what area your Driver is and what kind money they are given. In poor areas they would just make what they are given (since the people probably can't give a tip), but in mid class neighbor hoods they would make a little extra due to tips. On average a pizza delivery driver is over 18, but if you don't work at a big company like dominos I bet you could be 16 or so. It just depends.
