A very common question, but indeed something about which we need to be more sensitive, and should try to provide the right solution for such amazing talents and the respective talented people. So, since I am founder of one of such apps for 'Musicians', I can talk about that arena and culture. Undoubtedly, there are hundreds of options available, when it comes to putting your content (music) online, then be it Youtube for Video and Soundcloud for Audio But what's been overlooked by both of these (or many other such) platforms is that they are just allowing musicians to host their content, and its just the responsibility of musicians themselves to find a way to get more people to listen. That's where apps like Reverbnation and MuSlate comes in to picture. They are not just allowing musicians to host their content but at the same time also allows them to create their 'portfolio' Though, both of these apps have considerable differences in intent and the features, Like MuSlate not only allows you to create a portfolio on its own platform, but also help Musicians release their music worldwide which includes much renowned streaming services like Gaana, Saavn, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and many more. That being said, its the Artist/Musician who have to give a thought before choosing any of the apps to promote his content. As different apps will certainly have some pros and cons over the others. That were my 2 cents for music.

For Musicians I will refer only below three 1. SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/) , best for Cover Songs 2. Youtube (http://www.youtube.com), best for Video monetizing 3. Muslate (http://www.muslate.com/artists), if you are making original music and are looking for Global Distribution as well.
