Why are experienced programmers so hostile toward beginners?

Could we use Quora as a medium of connecting folks who want to become better programmers and experienced programmers who have time to spare?

  • Considering the fact that Quora is frequented by a LOT of people who are *real* good programmers and a load of wannabe good programmers, Would it be possible to help these people meet each other and help each other out?(Unless something on similar lines is already being done.) EDIT: I'm aware of SO. But I was just wondering whether we could get something more personal to make more of a difference. :)

As Erik Terpstra stated, that seems to me like http://stackoverflow.com. Although I'd like something more informal, less strictly question->answer oriented and as popular as SO. Maybe you were thinking in something like that.
