Do people babysit in Sydney?

Why are Melbourne people obsessed about Sydney, but no one in Sydney cares about Melbourne?

  • They seem so insecure and always look down at people from Sydney being nasty and thinking thay are better than us, but no one in Sydney even cares about Melbourne

  • Answer:

I am Sydney born but have lived in Melbourne for the past 24 years. No one I know here could give a rat's past about Sydney. It's infantile and media-driven, but the man in the street couldn't care less about it.

It's like a friendly rivalry for Melbournites. But they have an inferiority complex. They're always trying to compete and argue that Melbourne's better, whereas Sydneysiders don't even bother because we just know that they're wrong.

When I lived in Melbourne the majority of people I met were fascinated about Queensland, I didn't have one person mention Sydney to me.

Again the age old question, Sydney or Melbourne? Many a scribe and se'er has probed this deep and mysterious question my friend and many a Yapper has pondered the answer in here too. Obviously, the Jury is still out. Besides, if it DID get settled once and for all, hell that would be like--weird mate.

Melbourne isn't the only city that does that

Steven, I used to travel between Sydney and Melbourne, and never heard anything adverse from Melbourne people about Sydney, maybe te only time, when there was a football match or cricket match, something like that, between the two states, but that went on with anything, even that football match you call the State of Oranges or something like that. In all I found Melbourne people pretty cool, even though it wasn't for me, one week in Melbourne at a time was more tan enough for me.

Sydney weather is better... we are on the coast.. with better surf spots, fishing spots, dah, dah, dah... but from experience of 'observation' from a 'flight attendants' perspective... the attraction of Melbourne is the 'CLOTHES'... and chilling out dining al fresco ... due to the difference in 'state liquor laws'... which has since been amended, and now Sydney is playing 'catchup' to Melbourne in Ladies Fashion, and cool alfresco dining. I'm not sure why Melbourne is ahead on fashion - maybe more Italians?
