Aussies, do you know anyone who can still whistle a tune, or whistle the kids for dinner?

I'm a chronic whistler ! Yet another forgotten art in today's world ...

A few years ago I worked with a fellow who could whistle any tune you named, and he did it very well. I think whistling a tune is a dying art today. When my children were young the man across the street didn't whistle for his kids to come in for dinner. He used one of those rubber bulb horns, which make a honking noise, to call them in. His kids hated it and were embarrassed by him doing it. In truth, it worked well because all the kids would head for their various homes when he called his children home.

No. I've never been a whistler & never been associated with anyone who has. I can still do the two fingers in the mouth whistle, that I did as a kid.

Have to confess I'm a closet whistler. I do it through my teeth rather than through pursed lips. Nobody else in the family whistles.

Another bad habit (along with tapping tunes) that I have. I can't whistle all that loudly, but I can hold a tune.

Mr Sheila is a whistler and comes from a long line of proud whistlers. I always remember reading years ago that if you were troubled or in mental turmoil about something start whistling because you can't think and whistle at the same time - the whistling takes over. Sums Mr S (and his dad!) up perfectly.

I used to whistle but not much these days. @ Truthful,my oldest daughter was the only one of my kids who could do that & still can at 50 years of age.Her brothers hated that they couldn't.
