Real bush hiking and camping in the Blue Mountains NSW?

I can't make any suggestions about potential places as I'm not in the 'hiking community' any more. What I definitely advise though is that you take a satellite phone and some boating flares with you in case you get lost. Also that when you've refined your plans, that you tell someone exactly where you plan to go, what time, what day, and when you plan to get back. We always seem to be losing people who go off hiking in the bush, and mounting rescue efforts, some of which are succesful, and some that aren't. So please do go with another person if possible, and please, please take steps to assist in your rescue if it goes wrong. Don't put anyone else's life at risk if you can help it. Also be sure you know about the bushfire regulations at this time of year, with your campfire.

I camped at the top of Mount Solitary last week for 3 nights and it was amazing. It's a great hike in, too. It's a fairly popular route in spring/autumn but in winter it's too cold, so you should be alright for people. Another thing is it's not actually a campground, so everyone else you see there will be like you. You can get a fire going if you want (we did and nothing happened)
