Answer:
Well I'm from central Scotland and you should definitely see here! Look up stirling on Google, its the home of stirling castle, William Wallace (braveheart..freedom!!) Etc, brilliant history :) also near the ochil hills which have wonderful views :) if you want a long drive, maybe fort William and Ben Nevis. Loch Ness is also a good place, that's home to the monster nessie :) Loch lomond is another beauty spot :) in Edinburgh, the forth road and rail bridge are worth seeing, so is the castle. Princes street is good for shops, there is always someone playing bagpipes!! I could go on, but Google these places, if you need anymore information or ideas feel free to email me :) ([email protected]) enjoy your stay in our gorgeous country :)

Regarding the Highlands, the farther north you go, the better it gets. Check the calendars and see if any Highland Games or other festivals are happening during your stay.

In my point of view you should visit Loch Lomond. It is the best place for visit. Where you can see the natural beauty.

I would suggest that you pick a self-catering property and base your visit round that, or do a two base holiday. Lots of great places to stay at www.embracescotland.co.uk - town, city, fairly rural, very remote or by the sea. All accredited by visitscotland.

Isle of Skye, Perth , Stirling, Aberdeen are also very famous and top rated cities of Scotland.

You should go to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Striling and Loch Lomond first off. They drive up north and go to Fort William, Inverness, Aviemore.
I guess it depends on how much driving you want - and chec the car hire I know some charge mileage. But not sure (Im 14 only drive tractors) anyways you can drive up one coast and down the other, Up the East and down the west for example. This will take you through towns and cities like Edinburgh Perth Dundee Aberdeen In Inverness and a great drive but the roads are narrow along the north coast and down to Lochinver and Ullapool There is some great hotels and guest house. http://www.visitscotland.com/ Where you start might depend on your travel to and from - your point of arrival and any choices you have. You also need to to check the car hire if you hire from one depot and drop off at another I think they charge extra for that.
