Train home from concerts in london, will I get attacked?

  • So I'm wanting to go to this concert in london but my mums scared that I'll get attacked on the train home, I have to take the milton keynes central to london euston to ...show more

  • Answer:

The tubes are packed at 11.00p.m. with people returning home from work, ending nights out, leaving concerts and theatre. Most people have a programme in their hands. You will be amongst hundreds of people all doing the same thing as you - making your way home. As a single female, I have spent many nights going home from work after 10.30p.m. at night. I have used both buses and tubes and have never been attacked. If you are sensible, you should be fine. Tell your parents you will ring them when you are on the train to assure them that all is well.

With thousands of people using the tube everyday at all times of the day, help points and CCTV, the chances of you getting attack is very slim. The most common type of crime on the Tube is pick pocketing, so keep all your valuables out of sight, keep bags zipped up etc

Why would you get attacked? both the Underground and the London Midland train will be packed with people, as will be the streets between the concert venue and Brixton Station. I would have thought Milton Keynes is far more dangerous than London

There is not much chance of that. However, London is a big city and you will need to be aware of your surroundings. The main risk is having your pocket picked.

Hey there Batman! Why be so pessimistic about things? I mean, I am not going to say that your folks are wrong to be worried but you should still stay cool and make your way to your concert and back home. It is true that Brixton and a few more places in London are not really safe but as long as you project the right aura, you should make your way back smoothly. Also note that underground trains are barely empty at that time, so just stick to a crowd and you will be fine! Think about enjoying yourself first rather than be so worried and negative. Have a nice time at your concert!

I can understand your parents' concerns. However, I worked all over London, including some deprived areas and never felt threatened. If you do feel worried, present a confident facade. The trains will be full of people going home, just the same as you. London isn't as rough as people imagine. Millions live there and have never seen any violence since the school playground.

wow, are your parents that "out of it" that they think you all will be attacked? geez...
