Is Oxford an affordable place to live?

Is oxford a nice place to live?

  • whats it like? is the town/shops nice? how long is it from london? thanks!!!!

  • Answer:

oxford is a beautiful city, with spectacular landscapes and views. because of the student population, there is also a wide variety of people living there, from all over the world. i noticed there were a lot of french people for example... however, some of the people i met were quite snobby and rude because of where i was from (yorkshire) and i found some places were very expensive. so really it depends what you're looking for x

Quite a nice town actually; the back cobbled streets, small shops and the Cathedral. Theres the obvious Oxford Uni and quite often its full of students and tourists, but appart from that its a pretty nice place. Travel to London depends on how you travel. By road, Oxford is just off the M4, so you can get to central London via the M4, A4 and the Hammersmith flyover. By train, Oxford station is about 40 minutes from Paddington station, on the Great Western Mainline via Reading, provided by First Great Western. If your thinking about moving, you need to go there and see what your opinion of it is. Don't just go on our views of the town.

Oxfords really nice The shops are ok not the best in the world but you can go to reading for that sort of thing, but there's loads to do in town. Saturday morning shopping's really good loads of people busking and groups playing Its about 45 Min's to an hour

Once you get past the obvious.. the University with one of the most historic campuses in the world.. the research facilities and a small city center with the original Oxfam.. it's just another small college town with all that designation means. I was over to Oxford quite a lot when I was at University in Coventry and living in Kenilworth.. but I never felt the overpowering urge to move to Oxford on a regular basis.

Oxford is not far from London.. you can drive or use public transport. The trains are about one hour to Paddington or longer for Marylebone. You can also get a comfy coach (Oxford Tube or Express) that is about 90mins. http://www.oxfordtube.com/ http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/main.php?page_id=27 The coach stops at various places in London and terminates at London Victoria. You can also pick up the coach at various bus stops in Oxford. Oxford is a lovely city with a variety of people. Like any city there are some not so nice areas but not that many. The town has all the high street stores and a good night life. Whenever I have been there I have found some people to be rather snobby. The city is however a great location to explore the countryside from.

It depends on which part of Oxford your planning to live in really. There are nice parts, average and nasty parts, just as in any town. JUST DONT LIVE IN THE AREA CALLED BLACKBIRD LEES, USED TO LIVE THERE AND HAD SOMEONE ARRESTED IN OUR BACK GARDEN!!! The shops are good. Its quite far from London; http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl Hope this
