Entrance exams for Universities in Finland?

    You should contact the schools directly (Mikkeli only has a university of applied sciences, which isn’t seen as the same thing as a university in Finland, despite the name), they may be able to set something. However, I’m afraid that that’s unlikely to happen. But, if you were applying to those schools as an exchange student, you shouldn't have any need to take entrance exams. If you do end up having to come to Finland to do the exams, hostels are pretty much your only choice in the way of cheap accommodations. There is no on-campus housing in Finland, the closest equivalent are the student housing companies (MOAS in Mikkeli and TOAS in Tampere).

I have never ever heard that anyone could do the entrance exam outside the university for where one is applying, though then again exchange students usually do not need to pass any entrance exams. That is a completely different thing though... None of the universities here arrange any sort of accommodation for anyone taking part to entrance exams, so you need to do that on your own. Most Finns stay either in a hostel or a hotel or at the home of someone they know. I know this is frustrating news for you, but unfortunately there is not alternative options for you than flying over, staying somewhere for some days and then flying back.
