I used to work for Princess cruises as an officer. I posted exactly the same question as you on here before I started . I got a job by ringing up a list of cruise lines and asking who the right people were to email in the HR department. Then after a few replies saying "I'm not the right person but I know who is" emails. This enabled me to start a correspondence with the correct person directly. Every now and again I would ask if anything had come in then one day I got a call saying a vacancy came up I was invited down for a interview. 2 weeks later I was on a plane to Houston in the US from the UK to join the ship in Galveston. I only did one tour of 6 months. Because 6months solid without a day off got abit much. I joined at 29. Maybe if I was younger I would of stayed and progressed up the career ladder where the deals get better eg 4 months on 2 months off, with paid leave. You get to see alot of the world for free and lots of parties. This is why I did it, but it is not easy and you will miss home.. Hope this Helps..

It would be helpful to know for what position you are applying. Some cruise lines use concessions in certain areas and then an application to the cruise line directly will not help you.

Hi, I worked on cruise ships for 18years but in the casino, I have a site www.cruisejobs22.com/ with loads of info on, click on the different posts, loads of links to the cruise lines. I got hired through a hiring agent in South Africa for Royal. Royal Caribbean have hiring agents in different countries where they interview at certain times of the year, once you pass your interview etc, you get put in a pool until you get contacted. For the shops you have Harding Bros in England, I hope this helps out... Feel free to contact me on my site for more info..

I haven't but my friends had done it through the Recruitment agency, had to wait 6 month - 1 year until they get an interview and after doing all necessary checks they were able to board. Royal Caribbean and Carnival are the one of the best for me. These days Cruise companies are not hiring as before due to economic downturn, however waiting frame as I mentioned above, starts from 6months up to......depending in position you have applied for. All the best and be patient.
