  • Answer:

My experience will not do you any good - because everyone experiences things differently. Some like it,some hate it. In all honesty, you are looking for the benefits of working onboard a cruise ship - mainly when you get off the ship, breaks, food,,,,, Ok, you are 14 at the moment - but working 12 - 15 hrs/day for 7 days a week, 6 months straight, following a stict military like hierarchy - might not be for you.

Hey. I was a waitress once, worked everyday, long hours, however there were some days where I was given time off (lunch and breakfast then I only worked at dinner time) so it's not all that bad. Contrary to what others might say they can't make you work 14 hours straight everyday for 6-8 months, that's insane. depending on where you from the money can be great, even excellent, for example I'm south african, I was making between 3 and 5 grand a month, 3 grand being a bad month but apparently Americans can't live with this amount of money.Food is OK, that's why we like eating something different outside. made tons of friends, saw some awesome places, shared a cabin of course. When I changed companies I also changed job, pay was good, hours better and then I met the man who became my husband :)

QE2... waiter... working all hours and sleeping whenever I wasn't. Good tips and lots of short days ashore in interesting ports. Basically you work to earn as much as you can and look forward to your next leave... and live off your tips in the mean time. The only people who actively enjoy ship life are the gay ones who have things to keep them interested.
