Depending on what you would like to do on the ship it may be very difficult for an American citizen to get hired. Most cruise lines flag their ships internationally so they can hire international workers. This drops overhead by a ton. To find a hotel department job on a cruise ship, look for american flagged vessels online. The only jobs I know of that an international ship will hire an american for are "staff" jobs. These consist of any type of entertainment work (hosts, cruise directors, spa workers, singers and dancers). You can also look into joining the maritime side of things.

you may find it a tad difficult to find any co. taking on staff at pres, because of the economic climate. you seem to have tried the obvious angles, but how about the job centre, or even the job magazines? you will find them in a main paper shop from thursday onwards.you can try a search on jobcentre plus, or job site or even other job sites that are on the net, some specialise in this type of job, or go to your local library, and you may find where to look, by asking the staff there, hope this helps
