Should you get cruise insurance?

Would you get insurance for just a weekend cruise?

  • I usually get trip insurance but am wondering if i could maybe save the insurance money and use it on something else...does anyone skip the insurance on shor t cruises?

    Skipping insurance is OK - until something goes wrong! Don't chance it! Cruise ships are very safe (been on 20+) BUT............ Last cruise we were on a perfectly healthy man didn't wake up one morning! Think of the cost to bring a coffin back home if you had no insurance! See below:-

It depends on many things, as mentioned what are the variables. 1. You have to consider the distance. Are you using an airplane to get to the dock? And unless you booked the air fair through the cruise line that won't count anyway. Next your health... Are you and the people your traveling with in good health? We have booked cruises locally and not taken the travel insurance for our 4 passengers. When we booked to go to Alaska with air we took the insurance. Good thing it paid off but that was a lot of money for that trip. You have to weigh your odds and just know that if you miss the trip your out the cash. It was a pain to process the paperwork with Dr. forms and signature an such. And they lost the first set of paperwork so we had to send it in again. But we got our cash back that was good. Just took them a long time. So you have to look at what you would be out if you didn't go and if your ok with loosing that. I'd say if your local and it's a short cruise roll the dice!......

If you have already bought a plane ticket, you are 99% going on cruise. I wouldnt waste money on the insurance save the cost for a excursion or the casino :)

Well, we never get the insurance. No problems yet with over 20 cruises sailed. Remember, it doesnt everything. Hope I helped!

I've never used any type of trip insurance. If you read all the small legal print, there are only a few specific instances that qualify. To me, it's not really worth it.
