Why do people get mad at gate agents when they don't get their way in airports?

People are ridiculous. I wait tables and I $hit you not, there was a tornado in my town while I was working one night. It was really bad and scary and nobody really knew what to expect. I had people flagging me down in the dark, (our power was out) and asking me what was going to happen outside. I finally told one lady that I'm not a meteorologist. It IS SHOCKING what people will expect of someone just because they work someplace...

Simple, because I have to get where I need to go, consequnces by darned. I am the most important person on the plane and I deserve the best seat and my $200 ticket should entitle me to 1st class. I also want my wine chilled properly and the caviar before the salad. If you are running late, I want a free ticket to Paris. Got it, buddy? Seriously, this is what many people actually think.

I had to figure this out at my last public service job-some people grow up, other people just get older.

I work in the tourist industry and see lots of people stressing out over their vacation. I quess it is because you save up your money and vacation time and you want your trip to go perfectly, when in reality few things in life are perfect. When you are traveling you should let go and let the things you can't control fox themselves. Too bad this goes against our human nature.

True. People shouldn't be rude. And airlines shouldn't overbook.

The employees are usually rude when something goes wrong. Flying is expensive and the agents aren't very nice when there's a bump in the road.

Who else are you supposed to get mad at? They are the only ones you can vent on. It's not fair but that's the truth...people need a scapegoat and they are an easy target. I wasn't thinking of the ticket agent but the gate agents that scan your luggage and delay your entrance to the actual airport.
