  • Answer:

yes it can sometimes hurt i was deaf for a couple of hours after a flight once. and i have flown mant times the best thing i have found that works is Earplanes both a adult size and child size they are a earplug made for flying they cost around 5-12.00 depending where u get them but they work well look online or in a drug store. it can be painful sometimes depends on the cabin pressure. have a good flight. wear slippers on board to because your feet swell up a bit and slippers makes it more comfortable. Bring a small pair of headphones to watch a movie or sat tv whatever is on the plane.

Morgan, I'm a frequent flyer, and can say it doesn't affect me.

It doesn't hurt when your ears pop. If they DON'T pop, then your ears will start to hurt. It's like this: When you go up or down in an airplane, the air pressure in the cabin changes, just as when you drive up into the mountains. This change in air pressure means that the pressure on your eardrums is unequal—the pressure of the air on the inside of the eardrums is different from the outside. This makes your ears feel stuffy, and it makes it hard to hear. If the difference in pressure gets too large, it pushes on the ear drum and it can really hurt. Fortunately, your ears usually pop to equalize the pressure. There are tubes that connect your middle ear (behind the eardrum) to your mouth and nose. These tubes are closed most of the time, but when a big difference in pressure builds up behind the ears, they open from time to time for just a second or two, so that air can enter or leave the middle ear to equalize pressure. When this happens, you hear a popping noise as the tubes open. It doesn't hurt. The more you pop your ears, the less likely it is that you'll feel any pain from pressure changes. You can help ears to pop by yawning or chewing on gum or something. You can also pinch your nose shut, hold your mouth closed, exhale briskly into your mouth and nose, and then swallow, which usually pops your ears (especially when the plane is descending).

Have you ever traveled up a mountain? It's going to feel like that. Some people don't feel it at all. Others can feel it more if they have sinus congestion. If it bothers you try the following: Chew gum yawn hold your nose and blow gently

It doesn't hurt! You wil just experience it as an unpleasent feeling. If you swallow a couple of times when you feel the pressure it will go away.

No it hurts if you don't pop then. The trick is to chew gum take a packet and start chewing whenever you want.

Some people are more sensitive to their ears popping than others. Whenever I travel I put in earbud heaphones or ear plugs, which will help with you not being able to notice the difference between air pressure because you will already have something in your ears. Personally, it doesn't really hurt, it's more of just a sudden, quick, painless pop.

Chew gum, and put your hands in your ears while the planes going up. It's fine really

it's true, it only hurts a mini-bit. But if you chew gum, or have headphones with music on blast, then it's no big deal.
