Instead of focusing on the doom and gloom, just focus on giving your father a big hug. Not to disregard your fears, but I would suggest since you've never been on a plane, you're probably more afraid of the unknown, rather than anything specific. Planes don't just fall out of the sky and turbulence is nothing that any commercial airline pilot can't deal with. Flying is actually a lot of fun. I'm sure your flight back will be a lot more comfortable, since you'll know exactly what to expect. Congrats on reuniting with your Dad. Honestly, center your thoughts around that positive (that's going to happen), instead of all the negative (that's not).

Look at it this way, the pilots have experience in flying trough bad weather. And they want to get home too. So, too dangerous and they are not going to fly.

air travel is one of the safest ways to get anywhere. millions of people around the world fly every day and there are fewer problems than traveling by car, bus, train, or boat i traveled a great deal for pleasure and as part of my job. never had a problem. just relax and enjoy the trip. hope everything goes well with your father, i am sure he will love you, his son-in-law, and his granddaughter

A very good science fiction writer explained it this way. Any one with any brains can look at an airplane and know that there is no way an internal combustion engine can get that thing off the ground and make it fly. So, it must be magic, which means you might as well lean back and enjoy the ride. Personally I carry a magic wand just in case.

I completely understand your fears. But there is nothing to it The weather will be okay. The stormy time is over, be calm. Nothing will happen. I sense your fears and I think they are real but don't be afraid. I'll tell you my tricks: the night before the flight I kneel down and ask the Lord for his protection round trip. Then I take 30 drops of Valerian un a glass of water. ( Valerian is a herbal calm ) Then next morning you kneel down and tell the Lord to bless the plane, the pilot, the traffic and all the people in it, take again the 30 valerian drops in a glass of water. You will be perfectly okay. Your worries must be about your daughter's diapers, formula, bottles rash cream and all the baby needs. Once you are seated inthe plane have a deep breath, trust the Lord. I can assure you that You and your daughter will be perfectly safe.

I have flown round the world several times and still get a bit nervous at take off. The plane is loaded with so much fuel that it could turn into a fireball if anything goes wrong. As soon as it leaves the ground I can relax. Most aircraft accidents occur on the ground in crowded poorly designed airports. Once they get airborne planes are in a pretty safe environment with radar and air traffic control to help them and ground proximity alarms and collision warnings there to preempt problems. Planes just do not fall out the sky the way they did in the early days of jet travel.

alcohol is usually 5 dollars a shot. Get two or three in you and you're set. Have a nice flight.

Flying is enjoyable once you do it. The worst part is the take off, it gets kind of noisy from the engines but other than that no worries. As for tornado's don't even give that another thought. Planes fly well above the height that tornado's reach. So you would actually be safer in the plane than on the ground should one occur. As for lightning I will be honest I just read an article that says all planes are hit by lightning at least once a year but none have gone down because of it since the 1960's. That's when the FAA enacted safety features to absorb the current. Finally the falling out of the sky, come on lets maintain a bit of rationality. When is the last time you heard of a plane just falling out of the sky they don't just do that.

Since you've already thought of all this, you'd probably be prepared for what is to come. Just chill and enjoy the ride.
