Is it to late to start playing aussie rules footy?

I am 24 and want to take up Aussie rules footy but never played before, am I too old to start?

  • Answer:

Give it a go mate, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain if you give it your best shot. You'll be well mentored by the experienced players eager to pass on info & skills and 24 isn't too late --- 60 + y.o's still play in the Vets Leagues - you'll get 36 seasons in !

You'll never know if you don't have a go. In my time playing footy i seen a few blokes come to the club and not having played before, some were ok some were very ordinary, but they enjoyed having a go and being part of the team. Just go to your local club and tell them you want to have a run at training, you might surprise yourself.

Find your local league - go to a club that is preferably not A grade, and go introduce yourself. Good luck

Definitely give it ago, you won't make an idiot of yourself get down to your local club and have a training run and see how you like it. Aussie Rules is great fun no matter how good you are, best of luck

you wont make a fool of yourself if you start training in the B grade and work your way up to the A's

Of course you can play, join a club and start practicing...24 is not that old...

The other answers say it all, good luck.

very funny yahoo, do u ever have a decent word to say about anyone., have you ever actually played the game? Jeff, contact your nearest club, they will be more than glad to have you learn the basics at their club, of that i am sure/ i played for salisbury north at one stage, we had a guy in the Bs named syd smallacombe. he was in his fiftees when he eventually gave it away, and a fitter , harder man would be hard to find. so dont worry about being a spring chicken

Get in contact with your local club, You must realise that at 24 Your going to have to train your little butt off to make up for lost time.
