Can I use wax paper instead of parchment paper?

Is Parchment paper the same as Wax paper? What do you use wax paper for?

  • Is Parchment paper the same as Wax paper? What do you use wax paper for? What do you use wax paper for? Why does Wax Paper cause the oven to get smokey?

  • Answer:

No they are totally different. Wax paper is paper coated with wax, it is not good for any heated application because the wax will melt and/or burn and the paper will burn once the wax has gone, that is where the smoke comes from. But, it is water proof so its good for wrapping sandwiches and such to keep in what you want and out what you don't.Parchment paper is paper impregnated with silicon, which is a heat proof material (up to 600F-800F). It is springier and doesn't fold well but is good for use in the oven to put under any food to keep it from sticking, especially baked goods. Hope this clears up some confusion. :)

I think Wax paper is obviously wax coated and parchment is a different coating. I think a mind altering chemical just kidding about the chemical part but mind altering WATCHOUT

Not the same. You already have some good info but another great use is as shelf or drawer liners. In kitchen cupboards use just replace when needed, quick and clean. Sweaters don't catch on wood in drawers. Cheap and efficient.

It is not the same. Wax paper is just another form, and it can be used for wrapping sandwiches, etc. helps things not stick.
