Answer:
Hit the gym & good food to add at least 10kg ..u too light for height. Can you run? from standstill to 30M fast ..real fast. then 5/8 i/c. If you like the cheerleaders.. & who doesn't or you have a short concentration span..play wing. If you have a bit more nous than the average bloke & can develop a footy brain go for halfback. As for playing in the forwards? ... I never played there so I can't comment. GOOD LUCK THOUGH.. & watch GOOD & FAIR players as a lead. Brett Stewart is a good one... he would be good at any sport. Greg Inglis(MS) for mine is the most balanced runner in league I have seen. For a small guy who plays well above his size.. Billy Slater at fullback.. but he is very fast over the first 30M & has footy nous.

You are No.1, You are a Fullback..!! too tall for a halves role, but assuming you are still young, you could grow into a wing/centre/forward position, wingers these days are BIG boys and have blistering speed to match, take a look at some of the best wingers in the game, Manu Vatuvei, 22, 6'2", 113kg, Israel Folau, 19, 6'5", 103kg, these kids are still growing..!! without knowing your age group its hard to place you, but Fullbacks are usually fairly tall and lean and fast and play a major role in the game....normally i would suggest anyone from an AFL background to stay away from League or Union 'cos personally I think their ball handling skills are pathetic, but it sounds like you've been involved in multiple sports and with the right coaching you could easily succeed in League....Get down to your local League club and talk to the coach..... thats my advice..!! Good luck..!!

Wing, untill you learn the ropes, than Centres in your fast and get break tackles or offload and avoid tackles.

Wing- Normally all wingers are less than 100kg. And your age. But you could be a good centre

Your build suggest an outside backs position, particularly if you're still in your teens and already 183cm tall. Height is a handy thing for fullbacks and wingers when it comes to fielding high kicks. If you have the ability to get off the ground and above your opposing player it is a great advantage. At only 78kg's your height is a bit much for a forwards position. If you were both tall and a bit bulkier you would make a perfect back rower from my experience in the game. I'm about your weight myself and about 5cm shorter but when I was playing years ago I was close to 10kg's heavier which doesn't seem a great deal but it made all the difference when I was moved from playing five-eighth to playing back row when we had some injuries in our forward pack. Look out for clubs in your area. You have a great deal of time to research between now and the start of the next season.

wing if you have never played.

Well this depends on a few things. First your age, if your over 18 then I would say at 78kg you're gonna be a bit small for the forwards, unless hooker/dummy half is your thing. Secondly , how fast are you? If your are pretty nippy then somewhere in the backline is for you. I have played with fast forwards before, but it is nullified mostly because of the crash and barge most do. Thats not to say you cant do well as a speedy forwards ( look at steve menzies for example , try scoring wizard.) As for backjline positions, again, it depends on your skill level. If you can kick and pass well from both sides, then half or five-eight is for you, as they are the playmakers. Draw on your touch experience. Can you put amother player through a gap by drawing other opponents to you? or do you rely on others to set you up? If you are more a finisher, than fullback, centre or wing is your spot. As for defence. If you love tackling, forwards are for you. If tackling scares you, get out on the wing. Coz nothing is worse than seeing a teamate in the middle thats scared to tackle. Hope that helps,
