What is your opinion on the future of the EU?

Recall that the first cries from the Middle East that tried to justify the 9/11 attacks referred to 1929 as the offense that had to be rectified. (i.e. the secularization of Turkey's government) If Turkey comes into the EU, militant Islam would bring all forces to bear against Turkey in particular and the EU in general. For that reason alone, it will never be allowed to happen. Over the coming years, the EU will continue becoming more like an S.S.R. than a democracy, trying to micro-manage economies and lifestyles, and the central body will be slow to react as "insurgencies" sprout in individual countries, and those states will respond by re-asserting their independence and becoming more nationalistic. One by one the countries will be dragged into the conflict, and one by one most will fall. As this begins to happen, all bets are off -- anything can happen. That's my best guess, based on present conditions, historical precedent, and governmental tendencies. It might look a lot different if I got to sit in on the official weekly intelligence briefings, though.

They won't let Turkey in, the History with Christian Europe and Muslim Turkey has always been tough. Europe has always shunned Turkey. I think the EU will probably simply continue to seek economic prosperity. Ultimately not much will change.

Well it was built on great ideas, but in reality the countries involved do not feel better off. The people will begin to seek removal.
